Well a blog is something I have been resisting for some time but unavoidable now so let’s get going.....
Visited the Vermeer exhibition in Cambridge the other day which was beautiful. Four paintings by Vermeer including the gorgeous Lacemaker but also a lot of work by his contemporaries, all of 17th century Dutch interior scenes. Fabulous with lots of beautifully painted fabrics which feed into my interest in drapery. How on earth do they achieve that lustrous quality of the fabric with paint?
I felt that my drawing was very poor at Michael Wright's life class on Monday evening and was quite disheartened. Purposely didn't look until Tuesday morning then felt that it had improved a bit since last week but still a long long way to go. Very good for the soul though!
Right one was very quick - 10 minutes, the left one took ages but much too tentative and insubstantial. Need to get more weight in somehow.
